Radha Raman Temple

Houses one of the few original deities established during the Goswami period and self-manifested from a Shaligram Shila.

History: The deity manifested in 1542 for Gopala Bhatta Goswami, one of the six Goswamis of Vrindavan.

ISKCON Vrindavan (Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir)

Established by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness).

Inaugurated in 1975, this temple complex includes the samadhi (memorial) of Srila Prabhupada and has become a major pilgrimage site for Hare Krishna devotees worldwide.

Banke Bihari Temple

One of the most revered temples in Vrindavan, dedicated to Lord Krishna in his Banke Bihari form (the one standing in a three-fold bending posture).

Established in 1864 by Swami Haridas, a great devotee and musician. The deity was discovered by Swami Haridas and his disciples at Nidhivan. The image is considered to be self-manifested.

Unique Features:

  • The deity’s feet are not visible as they are believed to be so enchanting that devotees would be mesmerized
  • No bells or conch shells are used during worship as the deity is in a playful mood
  • Curtains are drawn periodically during darshan as it’s believed continuous viewing affects devotees
  • No food offerings (bhog) are performed; only butter is offered

Timings: Variable throughout the year; special darshan during festivals 

Dress Code: Traditional and modest clothing required

Prem Mandir

A relatively modern temple complex dedicated to Radha Krishna and Sita Ram, showcasing divine love.

History: Established by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj and inaugurated in 2012 after 11 years of construction.

  • Magnificent white marble structure with intricate carvings
  • Over 1000 sculptural panels depicting Krishna’s pastimes
  • Beautiful illumination in the evening with colorful lights

Madan Mohan Temple

One of the oldest temples in modern Vrindavan, established during the Goswami period.

History: Built in 1580 by Kapur Ram Das from Multan, under the guidance of Sanatan Goswami. The original deity was moved to Karauli, Rajasthan during Aurangzeb’s reign. A replica deity now occupies the temple.

Radha Gokulananda Temple

Temple associated with Vishwanath Chakravarti, a great Vaishnava acharya.

  • Houses deities of Radha-Gokulananda and Radha-Vrajmohan
  • Deities were worshipped by Loknath Goswami
  • Peaceful atmosphere conducive to meditation
  • Historical importance in Gaudiya Vaishnavism

Shahji Temple

Known for its elaborate architecture and intricate decorations.

History: Built in 1876 by a wealthy jeweler Shah Kundan Lal from Lucknow.

  • Intricate carvings and basalt pillars
  • Twelve spiral pillars supporting the main hall
  • Beautiful paintings depicting Krishna’s pastimes

Architecture: One of the most ornate temples in Vrindavan

Govind Dev Ji Temple

Originally one of the most magnificent temples in Vrindavan, housing a deity installed by Vajranabha, great-grandson of Lord Krishna.

History: Built in 1590 by Raja Man Singh of Amber. The original temple was heavily damaged by Aurangzeb in 1670. The deity was moved to Jaipur for protection and remains there. The temple structure still stands as a magnificent architectural wonder.

  • Stunning red sandstone architecture
  • Evidence of Mughal-Rajput architectural fusion
  • Seven-story structure (now partially remaining)
  • Historical significance as one of the grandest temples of its time

Current Status: The temple structure is a protected monument; deity is in Jaipur
